Attract Happiness Into Your Life

One of the first things I learned about the Law of Attraction is that you attract what you focus on. It seems like a simple enough concept. As my husband Nick and I began talking about it more in depth, we realized that it applies in so many ways throughout the day. Below are three things we really focus on when applying the law of attraction in our lives to attract happiness.

What is the general theme of your thoughts?

Are you a ‘glass is half full’ or a ‘glass is half empty’ person? Listen to your inner dialogue and evaluate it. Your thoughts affect how you feel. Negative thoughts create negative feelings while positive thoughts create positive feelings.

To be a happier, more positive person just think like one! So the next time you notice a negative thought, try reframing it. It may take some practice. Soon you will consistently turn negative thoughts into positive ones. For example, when a negative thought pops into your head, like “My legs look big in these pants”, it can be reframed as, “My legs are strong. They carry me around all day. Because I have strong legs, I am able to …” Happier thoughts turn into happier feelings and a more positive outlook on life. (Plus they attract happiness and positivity you!)

What do you find yourself talking about on a regular basis?

Our society tends to be on the negative side. Need proof? Just watch the local news for about 10 minutes. It seems that we often connect to one another through complaining. “Misery loves company” is a true statement! The great thing is that happiness loves company too. Instead of starting a conversation with a complaint, try bonding over something positive in your life. It could be a favorite tv show, an upcoming vacation, or anything that puts a smile on your face.

The more positivity that comes from your lips, the more positive your life is! I notice that the more positively I speak, the more positive thoughts I have and the happier I feel. I know I usually walk away from positive conversations with a big smile, thinking about how awesome life is. These happy conversations may just add a little bounce to your step!

On a side note, when someone gives you a compliment, thank them. So many people downplay compliments or feel the need to be negative toward themselves upon receiving one. They’re noticing how awesome you are! Receiving gifts, compliments, etc. is a key to keep happiness flowing in your life!

How do you spend your downtime?

What kinds of things are you reading? I am talking about social media and other things you read online in addition to more traditional reading materials, like books, magazines and newspapers. My thoughts can linger on what I read for hours and sometimes even days later. I also like to share the information I read with friends and family. What you’re reading can impact your thoughts, what you share with others, and even how you feel about yourself.

What are you watching? Do you like shows that make you feel uplifted, or are suspenseful? Is your favorite show full of drama? What really matters here is how you feel and what you are focusing on when you watch these shows. I love to watch The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. Nick points out that they are full of drama, and they are. I see that each week. I also see the hope and excitement that comes from falling in love and the personal growth of the people on the show. That is what I focus on. I love watching the happy new couple on the last episode and I really enjoy seeing the updates when they get married and have children.

The Takeaway

I became more aware of my thoughts, words and activities once I really understood their impact. I have been working on these areas of my life for over a year and have seen some really positive changes. Life keeps getting better and better! Being mindful of these things may help you make the changes necessary to attract more happiness into your life.

  1. So much of why I don’t watch the news at all anymore! You want to in what’s going on in the world, but it’s actually so disempowering to be surrounded by the negative way it’s presented all the time.

    Thanks for the post. Xx

    1. Jessie, I don’t watch it either! I find it too disturbing. I still become aware of much of what is happening in the news, and pray for those involved. Choosing to focus on more positive things makes you more positive and helps others find happiness too. 🙂

  2. I find myself always saying I’m a realist which sometimes means being negative but as I grow my faith in Christ my perspective and outlook is changing. I want to attract happiness, I don’t want to be known as negative nancy.

  3. Agree with maximizing downtime as well! It’s not just about doing anything you want, you need to make sure it’s moving toward a goal of happiness!

  4. These are really great tips! I am always trying to be a more positive person. I love surrounding myself with positive people as well. One thing I definitely know I need work on is the downplaying of compliments though. That’s a tough one.

  5. Great tips! I have become a lot more aware of my thoughts and changing those negative thoughts. My husband is a ‘glass is half full’ person and I’m a ‘glass is half empty’ person, so over the years he has been rubbing off on me.
